WPPI Las Vegas

I don't know where to begin. I had the opportunity to attend WPPI ( Wedding & Portrait Photographers International ) this year @ the MGM! What an amazing time I had. I learned so much valuable information and met some pretty amazing people that share the same passion as me.
My first class was with the very talented Jasmine Star! This woman just blew me away. We waited for 2 hours to get into her class. They had to turn away 1000 people because we filled the room within minutes. I never felt so motivated or inspired in my life after her class! Did I mention how amazing she is? The next day we were walking the trade show when we saw her. We walked up to her asking for some pics but instead she asked us to walk with her and chat about her class! Holla! I couldn't believe it! To make a long story short, my trusty camera wasn't "working" *cough cough* so thankfully one of my fellow photog friends had her phone with her to get my pic. Kristen, you are the best!

Later that day we watchedBecker host a little class @ the trade show. I forgot to mention that he sat next to us in J*'s class the day before! Yeah, totally cool! He also took some pics of me that I will be posting as soon as they are ready. Can this day get any better?
Don't mind my double chin and goofy grin! I was laughing too hard for the pic.

Our last class of the evening was with the fabulous Brianna Graham! Once again, we waited for over 2 hours. This time they only let in 300 people but lucky for us, we were the first 5 in line! We got front row seats and my friend Kelsey won a back drop for being #1 in line! We had the opportunity to stay after class and chat with Brianna. Another amazing and talented photographer!

I can go on and on about my time there but I am getting over being sick. I don't know what happened but Tues. night when I got home, it hit me hard and fast. I was in bed all day yesterday and half of today. Hopefully I will be able to post more as I get better. Until then, this is all the energy I have for now. I cannot wait for WPPI 2011! I have been teasing my husband for another baby so our youngest of 3 kids can have a playmate close in age. He isn't buying my pitch what so ever. I have exhausted all my reserves until I captured this gem. I was shooting Valentine's photos of our children which can be found here! My baby boy was done and gave me this look @ the end of the shoot. A lightbulb went off in my head and decided to send this outtake to my husband as a virtual card. =) Once again my plan failed but it was fun trying.

So picture this. I just walked in the door and I got an email from Kelsey asking me to take her pictures for her new blog. Little did I know she wanted me to meet her in 1 hour from then. I almost had a heart attack. lol! I loaded the kids back into the car and off I went. Talk about pressure. Let me not mention I was looking top notch with no make-up and my hair a mess. I at least put my contacts on for her.

I found out yesterday that one of my favorite photographers is being a guest judge this week for I {heart} faces! I had to enter the challenge once I got the news. I feel like I am going to be sick knowing that the fabulous Becky Earl will be looking @ my picture. EEEK! Becky, if you are reading this, you are my hero!

Ok, I am now done with making a fool out of myself....

Wow! What a busy week it has been for our family. I had to put the blog on hold for a bit. We had a fabulous Valentine's Day weekend. My husband decided to kidnap us and treat us to a little but much needed vaca.
In the next few days I will blog another rockin' OCF session and a squishy newborn! I really need to stay away from these babies. They are making my baby fever go crazy.

We are just weeks away from his first birthday! I am getting so excited! I tried to take his cake smash pics and it was a failure. Maybe next week. For now I am happy with these.

The title says it all! I knew once I met N & R what style photography session we were going to have. I didn't want to go traditional for their maternity pics so we incorporated some OCF work. Man was this fun! They totally played the part with their look. What was really neat, I found out that they dabble in photography too. I didn't find that out until the session was over. Thankfully so, I would have been nervous during the shoot!
I really hope you enjoy your pics N & R! I seriously can't thank you enough for letting me try this technique with your pictures. You guys totally rock!

Just a reminder....

Sometimes you have just one of those days. Well today was "that day" for me. I have 3 sick kids @ home, laundry to fold, a husband that is away, and dinner to be made ( thank you Spaghetti O's! Oh, how I lurve you...). After the chaos settled down, I realized how lucky I am. It took a simple thing as bathing the kids for me to put things in perspective. I just watched them as they gave me a life's lesson w/o even knowing it. I love my babies!

There will be days that nothing seems to go your way.

Sometimes all you need is a little hug.

Always remember to smile.

It is ok to have a bad hair day. It happens to the best of us.

Laughter truly is the best medicine.

Most importantly...Don't forget to just to relax. Tomorrow will be a better day!

Last week I had my first newborn shoot! I was so excited and when I was done, I had a mad case of baby fever! Little E had the most kissable lips! He was so yummy too boot!
I had a blast meeting mom, dad, and the Grandparents. The fam was so nice and made me feel right at home! I really hope you and your family enjoy the pics of baby E. Congrats on such a sweet baby boy! I can't thank you enough for giving me this opportunity to photograph your new baby!

Miss C contacted me before the holidays wanting to get some pictures of her beautiful family. We finally got a chance to meet up for some engagement shots last week. She and her beau were troopers and fun to work with. It was freezing cold outside that morning but we managed to work with the weather. Thankfully the sun came out and eventually warmed us up.

I can't believe my youngest is going to be 1 in less than 8 weeks! I can't believe we will be in VA in 5-6 months. Crazy how time flies.
I just wanted to post a thank you to my family and friends for helping me pursue my obsession w/ photography. All of you are the best for being my ~~victims~~, I mean, willing subjects to practice on. Hopefully all this practice will pay off one day....

All About the Belly

I think everything about an expecting mother is beautiful. The gorgeous glow, the perfect round belly, how she exudes happiness. I love it all! Last week, I got the pleasure to meet this wonderful couple. We focused on mom's beautiful belly for this session. Seriously, I wish I as pregnant again. I was getting "bump envy".
S & R, I am so excited for you becoming parents for the first time! I know you are excited about meeting your little guy and so am I! I had a great time getting to know you and working with you. I can't wait to meet up again for our outdoor session! Enjoy your pics!

Urban Senior Session / Class of 2010!

I was totally excited to work with this senior! She was willing to let me try different techniques! I have been wanting to try practicing some backlighting and sun haze so here was my opportunity. I really like this look and would love to incorporate it more in my work.
Can I also mention I am so jealous of her new car! Even the people walking by commented on it when she started that bad boy up! You know I had to take some pics of her ride!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! I took some time off from posting and now I am behind! Keep a lookout for my first Senior and maternity post in the next week! I also just booked my first newborn in 2 weeks! I cannot wait! I am hoping to give my blog a make over if time permits.
Santa brought me new lighting toys and I am determined to learn this stuff. My goal for 2010 is to figure out OCF ( that would be "off camera flash" for the non photogs that read my blog ).
I have been experimenting with the flash and new processing. Boy do I have LOTS to learn. I know these are far from perfect but they are the beginning of me learning this technique!

I swear it was yesterday I was taking mom's maternity photos and now this baby girl is 1! This was my first cake smash and it was hilarious! I can't wait to do this for my little man's first birthday which is right around the corner!

This little ballerina wanted to take some photos to surprise her mom with a framed gift on Christmas morning. Her mom is an instructor at a local studio here so how perfect will this gift be! Props to dad for helping put this idea together!

"N" contacted me after her sister's family session ( see park session below ). She wanted some pictures done with her and her beau. We had to plan for 2 different days because of what she wanted to do.
Here is just a sneak peek from the couple's session. We still have 1 more day to complete the shoot. I don't want to spoil what we have in mind, but judging by the diggs "D" is wearing, I am sure you can take a guess.

I just wanted to post a few pics of my babes as our family is getting ready for Christmas. I absolutely love this time of year with my children. To see and experience their excitement makes me a feel young again. We are super excited to introduce this holiday season to our youngest son as it is his first! I swear it was yesterday. We were heading to the hospital to find out if we were about to be blessed with another son or a new daughter. I was so worried about leaving your big brother behind. My labor was fast and exciting. All the nurses working that shift were taking bets on what you would be. Anna my midwife arrived with no time to spare because you couldn't wait any longer. Next thing I knew I heard a loud squeal of delight from her " IT'S A GIRL! " The entire room started crying and clapping. I was lost in a river of tears because I was in shock. I swore you were a boy and I was scared to death of having a daughter. I couldn't stop crying, again. These were tears of joy, fear, shock, and love. I was an emotional wreck and I am thankful for that moment in time.
My dear baby girl, you have taught me so much about life. You made me a better person and showed me how much fun baby girls can be. You are truly a blessing to our family and cannot imagine my life without you. We love you so much! Happy 4th Birthday my sweet daughter!

Have I ever mentioned how much I love photography? I love everything about it. I love the art. I love the creativity and most of all, I love meeting new people. I had the pleasure to work with this family a few days ago. K contacted me wanting to take pictures of her 2 adorable boys and their daddy. Just before we met up, she asked if her sister and parents could join in...of course they could! The more the merrier! We took pictures until we ran out of sunlight and they boys ran out of energy ( well not so much about the boys ). We had so much fun and had lots in common. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to meet you and your wonderful family! It is because of people like you that I love doing what I do!

M contacted me a few weeks back to schedule a shoot with her family. We both new we wanted to do something fun and different than the normal family picture session. We had an absolute blast during this photo shoot! It was my first time meeting this family and it was like we knew each other forever! Talk about fun people and come on, look how beautiful the family is!

It is that time of year that we all love! The weather is perfect and the kids are getting excited for the holidays! I will have a lot of pictures to share on my blog as I just booked a few sessions with some families. I am so excited to take pictures of subjects other than my kids! Don't get me wrong, I love taking pictures of my own children but I am sure others would like to see some variety on this blog!
